Actually, I wonder if it wouldn't be useful to have a clearer
directory structure. Perhaps:

shorewall-4.X.Y  containing the base tarballs
shorewall-4.X.Y/errata  as it currently is
shorewall-4-X.Y/patched  containing the patched tarballs

or some other structure which better reflects the situation.
