Just reading through this thread, it struck me that perhaps it would be a good idea to write unit tests for Shorewall, especially with the advent of the shorewall-perl version. Perhaps it'd be a good idea to specify what behavior is expected from each rule in a machine-checkable way, so that it's easy to verify that changes in one area don't affect other functions. Test::Unit might be a good choice for this. I'd be interested in helping with this some after May is over, when I'm on summer vacation.
