 Well, currently intone uses mplayer to stream data (mplayer -ao
alsa:device=bluetooth).
I'll experiment with gstreamer and see how much of an advantage it provides. 
  Could you post back how much CPU this method uses with mp3/oga files (and
their bitrates)?
Also can you send me the errors (if any) gstreamer gives if :-
1.  The streaming fails
2.  There is no bluetooth device paired
3.  The bluetooth headset is switched off while gstreamer is streaming.

  Also, can you tell me if anything lse needs to be done before giving this
command (for eg pairing, any modprobe etc).
 Thanks. I intend to make intone use as little resources as it possibly can
- and if this method gives some gains - I'll definitely move to using it.
