Perhaps, but it was late and I disagreed with almost everything ;-) I see the Freerunner as a pocket computer with built in telephony. I want the same capabilities I have on my desktop or netbook, and for me X is a positive advantage, not a waste of resources. I didn't understand your suggestion that widget toolkits were unsuitable for embedded devices. I must have misunderstood you since you now propose etk or fltk. As for not being multi-window, what are the gadgets on most current smartphones if not borderless windows? On the integration front I partly agree, in as far as we don't have it yet. Android has a 5 year start, and more developer resource, so they are further down the road. Freesmartphone.org has made a lot of progress in filling the gaps in the APIs so that we have a consistent back end, but there is work still to be done. SHR seems to me to be heading towards a consistent front end, but without preventing me from using non-native GUIs like the navit one. It sounds like you might like some aspects of the OpenWRT build for the Freerunner: http://nanl.de/blog/ _______________________________________________ Shr-User mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shr-project.org/mailman/listinfo/shr-user
