I did not use the image, I did an "opg upgrade" as soon as it booted after flashing. There were lots of updated packages, probably many fixes. I change brightness a lot - it is winter here so I turn down the brightness when driving in the dark. > Also, in daylight (its peak summer here in Australia), the screen > disappears as once the dimmer cuts in, the screen isnt bright enough to > be seen (and starting at 80% brightness means it is only barely visible > in the shade anyway). Moving the default away from 80% seems to work well, and the new setting is remembered. > And try reading an ebook without disabling the dimmer :( I see the problem, but fortunately, the dimmer can be disabled. I use this command for keeping the display on when using the FR as a car gps: fsoraw -r CPU,Display tangogps You may want to use "fsoraw" similiarly for starting your ebook reader software. > The new shr-today is only a little faster when I tried it, but seems > very flaky in that it often stops working and needs a reboot before it > will work again. Perhaps only a little faster, but also more stable. At least so far. > Do you have a clock, GSM and battery readings? - they were not present > when I tried and none of the suggested fixes worked? Yes. I thought the battery meter was broken, because it showed 100% all the time. My batter was never over 65% before - it is partially worn out. (Happens to all lithium batteries unfortunately.) But I guess they merely changed the indicator, so it shows 100% when the battery is as full as it gets. It goes down when I take the phone off the charger for some time. I have seen one new problem though. When I disconnect GPRS networking (in order to use USB networking for free), the name resolution doesn't work. Well, that is not new. The fix for this was always to copy /etc/resolv.conf from the attached PC, to make name resolution work again. The real problem is that GPRS cannot be brought up again after messing with /etc/resolv.conf. The connection is in "UNKNOWN" state, and the button just says "unkown" so neither connect or disconnect is possible. IT was not like that before - no matter what happend to the resolv.conf file, I could bring up GPRS again later. Helge Hafting
