As you mention GPC is build upon GCC, which is IMHO a big disadvantage, because
it is another layer of dependencies and you might have to fix GCC code to fix a bug
that manifests in SPCC code. Besides that Borland Pascal is the most widely used
dialect and FPC together with the Sybil components is enough to realize one of Sybil's
goals; compatibility with Borland Delphi (I think 2.0).
