You may be right on this one. :-) I'm used to Linux networking, but BSD
has some extremely powerful routing/firewall tools. Some of them could
beat Linux hands down. :-)
I'm used to using ipchains: however, the 2.4.x kernels have an option
that allows you to use ipchains/ipfwadm with the netfilter interface, so
if you think that ipfilter is too cumbersome (as I think), you have
the option of using the older utilities.
I also agree with the distribution. A minimalistic distribution install
(this excludes Red Hat, Corel, Caldera, and Mandrake, among others) will
work for you just fine. I suggest Slackware or Debian for this.
