I had a question. How can one look at LINUX source code? Is it available
on the web?
If the source which you want to view is placed under the GNU Public
License (most of the code for most distributions is) then your
distribution should provide some means of downloading the
source. Debian, for example, has a binary distribution, and a separate
source distribution, so you can grab only the binaries you want and
compile the rest from source, if wanted.
Also, do you think free software is generally better in
performance compared to copyrighted software?
"Free" doesn't necessarily mean that the software isn't
copyrighted. In fact, most is "copylefted." See
http://www.opensource.org for an explanation. And, yes, in many cases
the software is better, simply because a larger pool of developers can
examine your code and comment upon/change it if necessary, even going
as far as to create dirivative works, if they feel it is necessary.
