My buddy went to chipsmart, and I tagged along to check them out. The
sales people were cluless and promissed parts to be in the next day, that
STILL aren't here 3 months later! He just cancelled his order. In a
former life I was worked for a computer consultant and did everything from
programming to setting up networks to ,yes you guessed it, building
hundreds of machines. We bought our parts from PC Wholesale.. with prices
about equal to chipsmart.. sometimes a little higher sometimes lower. In
any case, it just shows that you don't have to put up with the gross
incompetence of places like Chipsmart. PC Wholesale is not open to the
public, and you have to get an account with them. They don't want to put
up with idiots, just like we don't. If you buy cheap parts, it is
possible they will be crapped out of the box, if you buy expenisve parts,
there is the same chance. My experiance has been that if you don't mind
dicking with your computer, just buy generic stuff, and if something
breaks, take it back, get a replacment and repeat as neccesary. Most
people don't have the time, or know-how to figure out what part of their
machine isn't working, so my route definatly isn't theirs. Hmm I seem to
be rambbling so I;m gonna go eat lunch now.. see ya.
