hi *,
got an oddity that i've seen before, but can't for the life of me recall
a fix for (i may have never found one, actually). i run xfree86 on an s3
based gateway2000 ppro (donated to the ACM, we would never buy gw2k =)),
and the server chops off about 5 pixels from the far left of the screen
and sticks them on the right edge (a five pixel column top-to-bottom).
they are perfectly aligned etc on the right, and i can see 5 pixels worth
of my windows' left edges on the right edge of my desktop. the fact that
i seem to recall having seen this on a non-s3 machine at some point makes me
think it might be a somewhat generic issue others have run across...
i've tried shifting with xvidtune, but it just shifts the picture on the tube,
not what the display is showing...
anyone who's seen this before and knows a somewhat generic fix, before i
go bug the xfree guys? (running XFree86 3.3.2-18 rpm from redhat, latest
avail in .../updates)
thanks in advance for any clues.
