Using the gnome control panel you can select and config a wm.

Local input locks up. Will not accept anything but a hard reboot (power
off or reset button). However I have rebooted using linuxconf through swat
over my network. That was what was really odd to me. The local keyboard
locks up completely! So I am sure telnet would work also. WIll try.
