Yikes...what a mess. I had no idea things were getting so windowsy so
fast. Can you exchange the USB modem for one that connects via RJ45
ethernet?  At least you would have a chance of getting it to work right
now. I'm pretty sure there are no Linux drivers yet for the speedstream
USB.

As for why SWBell stopped DHCP, I'm not exactly sure. Obviously it is
still available since I am using it, but I don't know if it would be
available to new customers. The fact that they ran out of IP addresses to
hand out via DHCP a few months ago probably was one reason to move toward
PPPoE. www.dslreports.com has some decent information concerning all
things DSL.
