I have used floppy firewall (from www.zelow.no) to set up connection sharing
networks successfully in the past. On my last attempt I ran into a problem.
Things work properly, except everything is rediculously slow. Pining to the
outside is inconsistent, somethimes there is a response, sometimes not. If
there is a responcse it is resonably fast. However, things are so slow that
http amd mail connections consistently time out. It seems to bve a problem
with incoming data, as sending mail is fast.
I was wondering if anyone else had run into a similar problem using linux as
a simple router. Floppyfw includes a few basic tools such as ifconfig,
netstat, and route. Are there certain things I could look at to find out
what the problem is? Also the connection worked fine and fast with a proxy
server under windows.
