Well, I'm running debian, and I've never heard of pump. Try doing an `apt-get install dhcp-client` to install dhclient and see if that fixes stuff. `man dhclient` to figure out how to set it up. If that doesn't work, the right place to call pump is probably somewhere in /etc/init.d/networking, where ifup is called.
