now ive been on cable for 3 years or so and ive never had the speed
fluctuate. if anything, it just gets faster momentarily. but both
companies ive used (ispchannel (dead i think) and roadrunner) have their
spurts of outages. i think the outages mostly are a fault of the local
provider and not inherant to cable service itself

outage history:
lakeway:          a bitch
dobie:            very very seldom
dripping springs: never
lakepoint:        a bitch

no good conclusions to be drawn from the data, since only the
(seemingly) largest and smallest areas seemed good. and its not much
data
