On triggering info from driver, I think that each drivers sends SR_DF_TRIGGER packet at least. Isn't it enough? I'll drop by IRC channel if I have a chance, but unfortunately I live in different time zones. I think pv is the most important part of the project to get more potential users' attention. Actually, I'd like to contribute to pv, but I'm not a GUI guy and my learning curve is not as steep as it used to be. But I will try to make a patch for pv when I'm free.
