just noticed this mail on the list.

Magnus mailed me privately too, and it turns out that not using a USB 3
port makes it work for him. However, I still feel uneasy about that --
there may be a timing issue or something similar involved.

Correct. Contributing to the confusion is that libsigrok does not show
the message level in the log output. The first message is not an error;
it's just the first location tried.

Right. Other people (and myself) have seen this before, but it's hard
to pin down. It seems to depend quite a bit on the machine, so it makes
sense that moving from a USB 3 port to a USB 2 port would make a
difference; although I doubt the problem is USB 3 per se.
