Dalwhinnie is excellent - and rates far above the much bandied about blends
available locally in India (like Chivas Regal - 8 yrs), but without that
smoky flavor - it probably rates below Talisker and Laphroaig.

Locally available whiskies in India are classified as "IMFL" -or Indian made
foreign liquor or imported whiskies. The names I get offered are "Bagpiper",
"Royal Challenge", "100 Pipers", "Glen Drummond", Johnny Walker and Chivas
Regal and a few others. Only Glen Drummond is a single malt.

Bagpiper is pure poison. Royal Challenge is pure ethanol. I would personally
rate 100 Pipers as my favorite - probably superior to Johnny Walker. But I
must add that I am not at all certain that what is poured out of Johnny
Walker bottles is the real stuff.
