I thought (back when I was using Yahoo mail regularly - upto around 1.5 years ago) that Yahoo's spam detection was excellent. I'm not sure if they have temporarily been out-evolved by the spammers, or if Deepa is an outlier.

Any thoughts from the others?

I am sure relative competencies (gmail vs yahoo) play a big role, but yahoo has a larger attack surface - they have been around much longer and hence spammers have more target addresses @yahoo and are also more familiar with
their AS approach, dev cycles, etc.
