expressed in simpler terms....

It is not always possible to express the same thing in simpler terms, though. My favourite example is teh word "ego" which has a precise meaning in psychoanalysis - though the common usage of the term has corrupted the ability to use that sense of the term in a discussion in mixed company (by which I mean "company that includes people who haven't studied psychoanalysis").
