The editorial says " Faith-based assertions do not lend themselves to judicial determination and cannot serve as proof in court proceedings." That is true, but it appears that faith based assertions can certainly be used politically and have been used for the most prominent and contentious issues in the past by the same groups fighting over this issue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shah_Bano_case shiv
