Interesting take, but I note that Wikipedia says pretty much the same thing in 
the last paragraph:

"Judicial craftsmanship has ensured that The Muslim Women's [Protection of 
Rights on Divorce] Act hasn't completely violated the rights of women. High 
Courts have interpreted "just and fair provision" that a woman is entitled to 
during her iddat period very broadlly ...."

But this has occurred despite political parties, and not because of them 
though. Full marks to nameless judges in innumerable lower courts for having 
interpreted the wording to do justice.

However - the Flavia Agnes pdf says that the AIMPLB that got the act passed in 
the first place is not totally happy about it.  :D
