Sorry was out of town. Just saw the discussions and want to respond something even if its late after travel and all. -d
va, I am still not sure what you want a clarification. I said its shared. So if Kavita has introduced herself to you and its tbd.lists, you know who it is. I don't recall reading that part. Although its in my face that LC is one of the subscribed lists and do remember having read some teething related pains, I don't think I even can recognize more of you than "va" - especially, if *you* are the one that shut me up at FOSS LC session :) (re: *you*: based on your earlier mail indicating you were on stage) Uday, Several reasons for sharing. First like ss indicated kind of: its sharing. I have a feeling Silk can do a longer list of 'why share', than I can imagine. Maybe its a generational thing :) ss got it! like sharing when computer was not an individual commodity - also, when email was not! Also TVs in the villages and small towns used to be shared, now with ipods each person has their personal entertainment station. Do we need to sit together and watch something? Went to a movie couple of days ago with friends. Why is that strange enough to mention even? People have forwarded many things from lists to friends. We know the pain of such forwards. As I indicated earlier (reference link to my "cafe" posting's thread by someone in this thread), there is conviviality. I can know of what others have read and responded to. We can flag something of interest or sometimes even annotate a discussion. Few times, there is collaboration in responses. But it is a family/friends-unit/business-unit/ticket(?) that has to trust and deal with each other because of what one responds. Also, when you are into activism or such. It is a safety that you are one of potentially many who represent the email id. I have prob left out the obvious, but I expect you to know why!
