What a narrow-minded statement. [1]

I too would like a definition of what "narrow-minded" means here. Here are
some options

 - Indians in general choose from a very narrow set of possible bands of
thought, and all stick to the same ones.

- There is a wide range of bands of thought if sampled across the
population of India, but a given Indian person chooses far too few.

So which of these are you folks talking about?

Well despite all the connections that India has historically had to the
rest of the world, it has always been a somewhat inward-looking culture
(like, say China). However, if broadening of the mind depends on
engagement with other cultures, the great socialist experiment (and the
direct effects, such as the $8 exchange limit of the 60s, import
restrictions and so forth) can be blamed and that is changing quickly
enough. Unfortunately so far it is largely accessible only to the wealthy
(access to global knowledge, leisure time to process it), but I am not
imaginative enough to suggest a way to fix that.
