+1. I'm not at Google anymore, but what I've seen tells me that they're
trying their best to find a balance between making money and becoming MSFT.
I've seen decisions internally that conflict with this idealism, but nothing
that's radically contrary to that rather generic philosophy. But we live in
cynical times, and we are less generous towards the mistakes of some than
others.

I disagree with you in the specific case of Google. That may well change
> over time as Google gets bigger. The idealism may get diluted or even lost,
