In school, my Bong friend kept insisting he was a veggie, until his mother would stop our arguments with "besides Bong's none else think so"...... so too with Maharashtrian konkanastha brahmins who eat non-veg. I still dont grok how a fish-eater can call themselves a veggie, or maybe, their coastal region roots has something to do with it.
