I want to get a phone that can be used as a USB and Bluetooth modem with Linux. I had a Nokia E61 for a while, and it worked well (as a modem; as a phone, it was extraordinarily slow and painful). I want to replace it with something (much) cheaper.
A nokia E71 is far better (oh, faster and nice to use as a plain old phone). I've been using it for several months now with no complaints. Some of the far cheaper nokia phones too come with inbuilt modems, work fine with gprs plans. And they're just plain phones, not PDAs.
Price is definitely the major consideration here. I'm not going to use it for anything but mobile connectivity, so any "value additions" are a complete waste of time.
In such a case you're better off with a pcmcia or usb data card.
