For whatever it's worth : There's this guy Venkat in Chennai who started E Farms ( http://www.matchboxsolutions.in/). From what I gathered from our conversation almost a year ago, he had self-help-groups, hotels, and apartment communities as his customer base. He procured veggies from Ooty and they were sorted according to the orders at his place in Mylapore and then delivered. I am not sure whether he supports a particular farm(s). The focus was more on eliminating folks in the middle to help the farmer get more money. He was in Wipro before starting this. I know of another guy, who was in Cognizant, who started an organic farm. He used to sell his produce to a set of folks who were regulars. In a sense, they supported his farm. I heard he is planning on selling his place now.
Recently I saw another van on the roads here with 'fresh vegetables' or some such name here in Chennai -- it promised to deliver vegetables at your doorstep. Again, I am not sure if it has anything to do with CSA. Sruthi
