I was thinking more along these lines: if a word is found in either or two dictionaries (en_us, en_gb) then it is to be taken as having been spelled correctly. If I intersperse French words in an English language e-mail, and I don't want them to show up as misspellings, then I should have that option.
Sure, having both en_us and en_gb enabled might lead to problems if you're a stickler for one or the other. But having a merged word list/dictionary would really help if you generally use American spelling but believe that Ses are better than the Oxford Zs in words like "organisation" (and don't want to add each and every one of the dozens of such words manually), *and* aren't too much of a stickler for one or the other spelling system as long as it is a recognized variant.
