I guess an editor would not use the word "snot"!

What WAS it, ultimately, Meera?

Some of the children whom I took for a wildlife trip recently looked into
their (very) tender coconuts, which the vendor had cut open after they'd
had the water...and remarked that the coconuts had snot!

I also remember, working in the kitchen of my American sambandhis, preparing
the Thanksgiving meal. Jim was preparing the turkey, which was bleeding all
over the sink drainboard, and I remarked that I certainly wouldn't touch
that.....Jim looked over quietly at where I was chopping beetroot, with the
red juice staining everything, and smiled.

So...I guess it's not the weirdness of the food, but one's pereception of
the weirdness.

Apropos of coconuts....is the meat in coconuts indeed mucous in composition?
Any scientists here who can enlighten me? I've read about how coconut water
can be used instead of blood plasma, but haven't heard much about the
coconut meat.
