A rather old desktop, or mid-tower built by Chieftec back in times when they used steel (so it is a bit too big to actually fit on a desk), loosely filled with some computer parts and pretending to be a workstation. Runs Linux, but I need to finally find some time and upgrade to more interesting OS (the current version of Debian that I am using right now is not going to have security patches after April, so I feel hot days coming). Most probably I will first see how "other OS" manages to run on a laptop. The "other OS" is not Windows, cannot be - there is nothing wrong with Windows, I just have no idea what good I could use it for. Besides, if it ever happens on some computer and I lay my hand on it, it only survives so long as it takes to fire up diagnostic Linux and/or install media. When a good housewife sees worm in her house, she slays it down without hesitation. It is not because she hates the worm, but if the Tao is great, then the computer is great and than there is harmony in the world. For reading, if it is not on paper, then e-ink device without "kindle" word on it. Nothing wrong with "kindle", but the word itself terrifies me. The Webster dictionary says "The poor beast had but lately kindled" - it just boggles my mind, how could I sleep with such thing besides me? There is also Android based smartphone. I could not manage to install sim card - instruction says "remove battery", but I have not managed yet to do it without removing slide. I had to buy old monochrome Nokia, there instruction said "remove slide", "remove battery" - I followed and now I use it for calls+sms. The smartphone is relegated to the role of transistor fm radio with huge display and sometimes for emulating certain old soviet calculator, which is fun but all in all, wasted money. -- Regards, Tomasz Rola -- ** A C programmer asked whether computer had Buddha's nature. ** ** As the answer, master did "rm -rif" on the programmer's home ** ** directory.
