Curious. I don’t post to mailing lists anymore, silk-list sadly included, but I do continue to read them: because posting engages one in conversations and a kind of anxiety of call and response (as do all social media in different amounts), while reading allows me to digest and think and maybe re-use something in another context later. A form of free-riding, no doubt, but given how much people like to talk, I don’t feel particularly bad about being an inveterate lurker these days. Plus I’m an anthropologist, so I am supposed to listen :) ck
