And as you said, everyone was in training for their *careers* -- girls who weren't headed for college were encouraged to develop office skills for their brief time in the workplace before getting married and raising a family. I was headed for college, but thought that typing skills would be a good thing to have. Turned out I needed them as I *tried college* and didn't like it. Got married alright, but never did the family thing -- worked my entire adult life, and used those typing skills both professionally and personally. It's a skill that I think everyone should have -- especially as the world has evolved into computer use. MA
