Simon,
right now I have an 8.8oz bottle of Solgar Vitamin C crystals - pure
L-Ascorbic Acid. 1/4 tsp - 1125 mg. I take about a level teaspone. Which I
buffer with some baking soda.

The caps I take for convenience - 1000 grams capsules in my purse. However
they do contain other ingredients such as calcium sterate (vegetable source)
celluose, food glaze, silica and sterac acid (vegetable source). One hears
about the time released not being recommended because of the irritability it
supposedly causes the stomach lining but I've had not such problems in the
past.

Just take a decent brand - made in the USA Vitaminc C. period.

The 'timed' released and 'buffered' versions of ascorbic acid are not
recommended...

Just be sure it is pure, pharmaceutical grade L-ascorbic acid (the L is
important)...
