A safe and simple method of measuring amperage in simple circuits like
this is to place a ten watt resister of about a ten ohm resistance in
series and then measure the voltage across the resister, across the
load (your colloidal silver making device), and then across both the
resister and the load together. At that point you can determine the
power consumption by the load by simple math and ohms law.
It won't be perfectly accurate, but close enough and there is no
danger of burning out your meter.
