A young dr told my mother she had "high" blood pressure and
cholesterol, and they gave her a rx. She told me about it, and I
advised her to get a home monitor to see if it was a probelm all the
time, and to check into the drugs and see what the side effects were.
It turns out that it was addicting! She was shocked, and further
investigation on her part showed her pressure to be normal at home.
Now she does not trust what they tell her- she looks into it herself.
I am proud of her!
Oh, and I remember when the drug companies did not have to put warnings
in their ads- people were dying, so then they were required to put in
warnings of the adverse side effects. I too, am amazed at how people
disregard the warnings and take them anyway.

Well they put me on one called Simvastatin about four years ago. I

They
put me on it because my sugar and cholesterol levels were up slightly
(ha-haa) and I didn't know any better then. My doctor knew the risks
because I could tell by her face when I told her and she told me to

My sugar levels are down now because I have lost two stone and don't

sweet things. The cholesterol I couldn't care less about because I
happen
to know that elevated cholesterol is perfectly normal in a 54 year

Isn't Lipitor the one I have been seeing advertised on TV lately where
They give all these horrible side effects, including death, then top it
Off with:
"The FDA has stated that it that for SOME people the benefits MAY
Outweigh the risks". They somehow make that sound like a glowing
Testimonial, but it made me think that there is no way I would ever
take
That stuff. How can anyone listen to an ad like this and even consider
Taking it?
