Likely there are springs and other metals in the mattress. Metal of the
right type will effect a compass,
It does not take much. If it is all round, the compass may prove worthless.
Id like to know of another way...
Several must exist, but they will work better, not be as simple or a cheap
as a two bit compass
needle.
