I've always taken cod liver oil with milk. The reason behind me
doing that is that the VA doctor told my brother to take cod liver oil
with warm milk and it prepares the stomach for digestion. He has bad
psoriasis and the VA doctor told him it would go away with cod liver
oil. I don't think I can talk my husband into trying again.

In my experience, certain food combinations with fish
oil cause belching/repeating problems. For instance, taking fish oil
with milk, as in milk with breakfast cereal is the worst for me. The
Japanese recommend against eating fish with milk... I would even think
that taking it on a relatively empty stomach might be good. It may take
some experimenting.
