Just thought I'd mention some CS lore from years back. Neville's not exaggerating when he mentions "moon phases" as causing changes in the CS making process. Some years ago one of our more careful experimentors discovered that there were measurable, reproduceable, systematic changes in the rate of silver deposition into the water that coincided with the state of the tides, which, of course, are caused by the moon's gravitational pull!! Naturally, it's not a big effect, but it seemed that the conductivity of the water varied slightly, or something like that was happening. It's just that when trying to keep everything as constant as possible there were still seemingly random changes affecting the brewing cell. When he noticed that certain results occurred at the same time of day... almost... and thought about the way that that time of day seemed to be shifting around over time, the lunar connection became obvious. So, it's not moon "phases" exactly, but the position of the moon in the sky and the twice daily tides do in fact influence many things on earth, including making our CS! Just don't worry about it, though. It's a really *small* effect! <grin> Peace, Mike D.
