That site has some interesting info, including that about the salt loading to help with halogen displacement and detox. It also says something about taking vitamin C. I am wondering if the following detox strategies will help with other allergies that might be related to an increase in toxic load. Many of the bromism side effects are similar to the side effects of fungal toxins, which include neurological symptoms. The same is true for Lyme toxins, and some others as well.

Checking the periodic table, Florine seems to be the most likely problem, since it is one of the most reactive elements. Chlorine comes next, with Bromine, then Iodine. Since it is heavier and larger, maybe it is also slower to be used, and if it has significant competition from the other halogens in the close enviornment and diet, it would make common sense that it might be the last to get used. Then, the salt detox strategy might be helpful for more than just the bromine detox, it would likely detox the other halogens.

For myself, I just know that I feel a whole lot better when I consume more salt and vitamin C, not to mention oils. --kathryn

From the website:
Bromide Detox Strategies

1. Salt Loading. See sidebar.
2. Stopping iodine for 48 hours to rest the kidneys.
3. Reducing the iodine dose temporarily, then working back up.
4. Taking several grams vitamin C spread out throughout the day along with the
     Iodine Companion Nutrients.
5. Drinking more water.
6. Pulse-dosing (stopping and restarting iodine therapy.)
7. According to Iodine users with skin symptoms, adding 25 mg zinc often helps.

Dr Shevin presented his Salt Loading Protocol at the February '07 Iodine conference:

1/4 teaspoon salt in 1/2 cup warm water followed immediately with 12-16 oz water. Repeat in 30-45 minutes X 2 until copious urination begins. Observe subjective response (usually within several hours).

Be sure to ask your doctor before implementing this or any medical strategy.

Chloride should not be a problem, but chlorine sure is.

The website: www.breastcancerchoices.org

is loaded with info on all the halogens that displace iodine, and why this is a problem (obviously no help to those with an iodine allergy, though)
