For a long time I used to think they should be also highlighted active hyperlinks in the edit (compose) window, but they just aren't. Don't know why.

I can tell you. There can't be many reasons.

It is either the software, the user, or I suspected plain text.
Or...... how the bogus software handles plain text or links.

I set my mailer to send plain text, receive plain text, display plain text, and toss everything else into the junk pile.

The I set one of the best mailing list softwares to "Plain Text" for the user.
( see reasons below )

Guess what? My mailer still highlights links.

So, plain and simple, the genius programmers that wrote Eudora decided what to do with Links.
There seems to be no reason for choices, and no reason not to highlight links.
Links are links, and nothing else.

One version of Eudora had several options for links, but in the new versions, I could not find these options. Either the old programmers died, or someone forgot it, ...... but I doubt that.

In the edit window, read window, preview pane, or any other window, all links are highlighted
and all appear to be hot links, if in fact they are good links that work.

As I typed all of these, even set to send in plain text, and view in plain text,
my mailer still highlights them.

The fact is, nothing I could do, nothing I could change, no settings, nothing...........
could change the fact that Links are highlighted.

I can only agree with how the programmers did it.

As I have stated about WindoZZE, the problems relate to
Operators
Software
Memory

Not sure that is true with links, but possibly.

Why I think that "Mailman / Python" is one of the best, if not the best mailing list softwares,
consider the user list.

The list of Fortune 500 companies that use it, will stretch across the street, and maybe halfway back.

This software has many user settings, easy to configure, and not one spam message has got thru to my list, in several years. ( Never for that matter )

Many people state they do not link Eudora, but they go on to say, it is too complicated for them. What they are really saying, is that they are not willing to make the effort required to learn a
few things.

One way I rate a software is how well it handles the data files, or the files associated with it.
And I mean large files, 100 megs or over. 20,000 messages in on mail box file.
Sort, Query, Search, just how fast ?

I have seen many software packages, even by MS, that would have a limit on file size.
That was long ago of course.

I won't say much about Thunderbird. Some talked me into trying it.
I did install it, and it looked just like Eudora, about 3 or 4 versions back.
Many settings and features were missing, they were not there.

I realize there are 1000 add on's and plug in's for thunderbird.

However Thunderbird impressed me so, I quickly deleted and wasted no time setting it up.

I can do a lot with Eudora, I usually have 50 to 100 different configuration files.
I can edit them and give Eudora Features it does not normally have.

I feel sure, some can do that with Thunderbird. But 99 % don't and can't.

As far as I am concerned, I will never waste any more time figuring out anything relative to links,
plain text links, and mailing list software links.

It seems to be a NON Issue to me, and to Eudora as well.
