You can purify DMSO by letting it freeze in the refrigerator (not freezer) and pour out the remaining liquid portion. The impurities which tend to be water soluble stay in the liquid portion. The crystallized stuff in the original container is fairly pure. You can add a small amount of distilled water if it doesn't want to re-liquefy at room temperature.
