Yes, I believe it does.  I can hardly "taste" the DMSO taste when I
apply the cleaned DMSO topically.
However, I don't know how much odor reduction an independent observer
would notice if one took it orally...

I also think that after freezing it and pouring out the remaining
water it could be further purified by adding a small amount of
distilled water, allowing it to heat up and melt, shaking it up and
letting it sit for a while for the water to absorb any residual smelly
stuff and then repeat the freezing and pouring off step.  Be careful
not to add too much water.  I think you would only want to add about
5% by volume.  Too much water and the freezing point approaches the
freezing point of water, so the method would become unusable.

Maybe some old geezer with a gallon of DMSO and a lot of time on his
hands could test it out and let us know... ;-))
