Mike; What I see with polarity switching is not the same as with straight dc.
Both elecrodes look a like. Recently I was sent some steriling silver wire (unknown to me at the time) and when I ran them they turned coal black. I got almost the same blackness with demineralized water. I am working on a cheapie switcher that most can make. When it materializes I will put on the list.
