Some of us are starting very low with the Low Dose Naltrexone
and working up more slowly to avoid the night time sleep
disturbance
or any other adjustment side effects. It's normally
suggested to
start at 4.5 or if you have MS to start at 1.5 both of which
can cause
short term sleep disturbance when taken at night. Easily
remedied
with Melatonin or day time dosing, but the benefits are
greater when
taken at night.
I started a list to discuss starting really low, like 0.5
and increasing
by 0.25 every two weeks. It's working very well for some who are
very sensitive. Also seems that some get benefits on these low
doses although it is said that anything below 1.75 is not
going to
do anything for you. Everyone is different and it may depend on
the state of your immune system as well as the disease you are
treating. Anything genetic or auto-immune is thought to benefit.
It's a very interesting therapy. There's much info to show
that it is
actually balancing the immune system. Some say it also does this
for the endocrine system. Many have to reduce Thyroid supplement
and report increased libido and hormone balancing effects.
It has
reduced my hot flashes, I have had no colds or flu since
starting
it last summer and my mold / seasonal allergies are less. I only
take 1.0 mg every three days at present so it costs me almost
nothing. I order it from an internet pharmacy.

Ooops, forgot to mention the low dose naltrexone. I've been taking it
since march, and it does help. I started at night, seemed to develop
insomnia, switched to AM, and I'm going to switch back to pm tonight, to
see if it will be more effective. It works by stimulating endorphin
production at peak times during the night, which in turn stimulates the
immune system. Its becoming a mainstay for ms, aids, hcv, and more.
