Get on the web and look up "Eveready" the battery company. They have discharge curves for all type of batteries. The best is the lithium. Its discharge curve is flat for many hours while the other tail off rapidly. They cost about twice as a good battery but last four times longer, and the voltage output will stay constant. which is one more parameter under control.
