This is interesting; never thought about having too little acid. My daughter
has quite a bit of trouble and think perhaps I should try the Betaine Hcl. Will
places like Puritans Pride hav it or do you have to get at a special place?
Thanks,
Leslie

You can have it tested by a lab, altho I never did. There's also a home
test, which I also never tried (just found out about it today):

But Harold -- and Alan too -- how do you know if you're one of the 80%
who do not have excess stomach acid, or one of the 20% who do?

Alan;
I did this protocol approx 15 years ago, my memory is not perfect;but,I
remember it did not take long ,maybe two weeks. At the same time, as I repeat, a
big change in my diet has kept the effect active to this day. This also helped
me lose a lot of weight too. That bottle of Betaine HCL lasted me a long time .I
would take a capsule once in a while to see the effect and it was not needed.
The bacteria Heli-cobacter Pylori burrows into the stomach lining and has
the ability to emit and surround itself with sodium-bi-carbonate ,which as we
know is highly alkiline, neutralizing the HCL acid in the stomach.Using acid
blockers,Tums, etc., is pure insanity in one of its' truest forms.
I know, because I went down that road to my detriment.

Harold, about how long did this whole process take? I began taking
Betaine Hcl in December and I no longer get GERD.
