If it is after a shower and you are on city water you may be reacting to
the chlorine or other toxins in city water. You might want to buy a
shower filter if you are on city water. Most allergies and sensitivities
are related to the gut and immune balance. The liver is part of this but
liver dysfunction is an effect not a cause.
Candida can also cause skin rashes, but where there is Candida over
growth there is immune insufficiency for one reason or another. Fungus
is an opportunist preying on a weakened organism. It is not the initial
cause although given the right growth conditions, it can bring down a
space station, as it did to Mer, so it is little wonder it can bring
down a human body when other conditions have weakened the system.
Skin reacts to irritants and allergens, and many times a rash is a
histamine reaction to an allergen. When the body is in an inflamed state
it becomes more sensitive so it depends on the overall state of health
and oxidative stress levels. When excessive levels of Nitric Oxide are
being produced in the mitochondria a complex chain of events occurs in
the cell that can lead to allergies, immune insufficiency, cancer,
cardiac disease, CFS, FM, MCS and neurotransmitter imbalances.
One way to test for allergy to food is to mix it with a little distilled
water and put a spot on the forearm, palm side, let it dry over night
and check for a reaction in the morning. This is suggested in the GAPS
diet protocol as a way to check for food sensitivity while the gut is in
the process of healing from leaky gut syndrome. As the gut heals the
sensitivities resolve, gradually and foods that were once problematic
can be eaten.
So I disagree that is is 'always' the liver although the Cytochrome P
450 proteins in the liver and elsewhere that detox the body can be
deficient in high oxidative stress. This is not a liver problem per se,
it is an oxidative stress problem, and is effecting heme protein
synthesis in all cells not just liver. So addressing it as a liver issue
alone will not heal this. Increasing Glutathione production may help but
more anti-oxidants are needed, Co Q 10, Vit C, Vit E,
Pycnogenol are a few that will help.
If there are errors in heme metabolism then B6 and Zinc may be needed
along with a host of supporting nutrients. One test is too look for
Pyrroles in the urine. A hallmark is low stress tolerance and anxiety
among others. It is a spectrum disorder so no absolute markers, and if
tests for pyrroles are negative it dose not mean that is not in play,
could just be that the test was done at a low stress time or that the
sample was mishandled, as Pyrroles are heat and light labile.

Leaky gut allows partially digested food to get into inappropriate
places in the peritoneal cavity where the immune system perceives it as
foreign substance and reacts. When the gut wall is healed and no longer
leaks then these food allergies and often chemical allergies are no
longer active. This has nothing to do with the liver and everything to
do with the health of the gut wall. Many feel that pyrroles may play a
role, oxidative stress is present and the body of some genotypes are
more susceptible, can't handle the sugars and high carbs, rancid fats,
environmental chems, antibiotics . . . etc that other more functional
genotypes are able to cope with.

learning about gut healing and food sensitivity.

I’ve been reading the posts on the silver list for a few weeks now
hoping to pick up some tips and advice. Time to ask a question I think.
Dose CS have any effect of skin ? I’ve had a strange (benign) rash,
starting a few years ago, on my upper arms then it progressed down
each side of the torso and a bit in the groin area. It sometimes is
slightly raised but right now it’s fairly feint. It’s usually more
pronounced after a show. It doesn’t itch – it’s just there. I’ve
consulted dermatologists in the UK and USA without success. If I apply
DMSO it seems to expose a lot more rash in otherwise clear areas but
doesn’t reduce it.
Might CS help me with this ? Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.
