That's partly true for drinking water, but you get much more fluoride through your skin while taking a bath or shower. So, there are whole house filters using alumina to get rid of fluoride. To the best of my current knowledge there is no filter that will remove 
fluoride. To get rid of fluoride takes distillation or reverse osmosis.
