There are two standard tests for Lyme. The first the ELISA is totally worthless and means nothing. A positive is useless, a negative is useless. The next test which is ONLY given after the ELISA shows positive is the Western Blot. It is only valid less than 50% of the time.
This is a political disease. The history of why the tests are so messed up is now in the public record. Most Lyme Literate Doctors (LLMD) will diagnose via clinical (looking at symptoms) instead of blood tests. LLMDs though are very rare due to the stigma the IDSA places on them.
